APLiteracy Smart Grids Starter Guide

The Smart Grids combine AP Literacy’s Writing Assessment Grids with AI technology to save you marking time, and support accuracy and consistency. Here is an overview of how it works:

1. Get your files ready

• Follow the instructions on Smart Grids to get your files in the best shape for AI assessment.

2. Upload your image

• Upload one piece of writing or several from the same pupil.

3. Add additional information 

• Let the Smart Grid know any additional information you think is useful. For example, is the piece of writing a specific format (e.g. a poem or letter)?

4. Answer any follow-up questions

• The Smart Grid might ask you extra questions to clarify the pupil’s level or context. Just reply in the chat.

6. Review the assessment

• Read through the Smart Grid’s assessment – if you have questions about the assessment, just ask – it’s there to help!

7. Save your assessment

• Copy and paste it into your marking record or ask the Smart Grid to produce a Word document version you can download and save.
